Welcome
All Ireland Champion flute and whistle player Turlach Boylan established The Kansas City School of Irish Music beginning with tinwhistle classes in Fall 2006. At the start of 2007 Dave Agee began to teach fiddle at the school. Weekday evening group classes are held in Union Station at the offices of the Kansas City Irish Cultural Center. Individual lessons on flute, tinwhistle and banjo are available.

The tinwhistle is the simplest and least expensive instrument in Irish music, yet capable of producing exceptional music in the hands of a master. The fingering system is straightforward and it is small and portable, making it the perfect instrument for children and beginners.

Used in folk music around the world, fiddle is the most popular instrument in Irish music. The instrument is readily available, and children have been known to start learning as young as 3 or 4 years old.
